Madison Van Oort is an independent scholar and user-experience researcher. She received her PhD in sociology from the University of Minnesota. She is the author of Worn Out: How Retailers Surveil and Exploit Workers in the Digital Age and How Workers Are Fighting Back, published by MIT Press in 2023.
